A first-of-its-kind potluck brings together county, school, city and state officials to chew the fat

On one hand, what’s happening this Sunday at 6 p.m. at Lakeshore Park is just another East Tennessee potluck, likely to be well supplied with beans and pork and salads and mamaw’s secret casseroles.
On the other hand, it is an unusual and possibly unprecedented attempt to bring together just about every local and state legislator in the county for a few hours of unstructured socializing. Members of County Commission, the school board, City Council, the Farragut Board of Aldermen and the state Legislature will gather with their families at the park’s Marble Hall Pavilion, each bringing something to eat or drink.
