Early voting began July 17 for the Aug. 6 election, and continues through Aug.1.

The ballot includes the Knox County general election as well as state and federal primaries.

Knox County Mayor: A Democratic political newcomer and a Republican school-board member are vying to become Knox County’s next mayor.

A Candidate Conversation: Three days before early voting begins, Knox County mayoral hopefuls Beau Hawk and Betsy Henderson took questions from residents at a forum in West Hills.

County Trustee: Both political newcomer Stephen Hood and current Register of Deeds Nick McBride pledge to restore integrity to the scandal-prone Trustee’s Office.

County Commission At-Large Seat 10: Republican Justin Cofer, Democrat Rev. Katina Sharp and independent Ronin Cunningham are running to succeed Larsen Jay on County Commission.

County Commission At-Large Seat 11: Republican Garrett Holt, Democrat Vivian Underwood Shipe and independent Dr. David Velarde are on the ballot.

School Board District 1: Democrat Breyauna Holloway and Republican Charles Frazier are vying to represent Knox County’s most deeply blue area.

School Board District 4: Democratic incumbent Katherine Bike faces Republican newcomer Ashley Sartelle in one of Knox County’s most purple political battlegrounds.

School Board District 6: Political newcomers Cadence Collins and Lee Ann Eaves offer Northwest Knox County voters a clear choice in this year’s election.

School Board District 7: Incumbent Steve Triplett faces a challenge from small-business owner Amy Fenner for the North Knox seat.

School Board District 9: Democrat Brandy Jenkins and Republican Bill Sofield are running to replace two-term School Board member Kristi Kristy.

Legislative Primaries: State Senate District 7 and House District 18 sport interesting Republican fights, while two Democrats are on the ballot in House District 14.
