Early voting is underway in the 2025 Knoxville City Council primary election, and will run through Aug. 21 at six locations around the city.

Hours at most early voting places are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays. They don’t open until noon on Wednesdays and are closed on Sundays. A few locations have different hours, so be sure to check the schedule before you go.

You can find sample ballots and full information at the website of the Knox County Election Commission.

City Council seats are up for grabs in five districts — Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6. The top two finishers in the primary in each district will advance to November’s general election.

Voters who reside in those districts can vote at any of the six early-voting polling places. Every voter’s ballot will feature only the race for the district in which they reside.

As usual here at Compass, we are moving all of our election coverage outside the paywall. We have assembled the links to our stories on individual races below, and they are free to read and share.
