A prospective data center looking at property in East Knox County owned by the Knoxville Utilities Board could wind up causing the de facto expansion of Midway Business Park -- and become its first occupant.

KUB is courting the undisclosed company for a surplus parcel it owns adjacent to the business park. Ed Medford, KUB’s manager of economic development and government relations, said a data center would be an ideal first customer for the business park. “It checks all the boxes.”
