A special zoning designation for the area immediately to the north of downtown is among the changes to the next version of a proposed new zoning code for Knoxville.
A December deadline for adopting a new zoning code appears increasingly unlikely.
MPC Executive Director Gerald Green told City Council members during a marathon workshop Thursday evening that the new zoning district would encompass Emory Place at the north end of Gay Street, lower North Central Street and adjacent commercial properties.
