Early voting runs from Oct. 15-30.

As early voting begins today in the Nov. 4 Knoxville city elections, we have as usual moved all of our election coverage outside the Compass paywall. These stories are free to read and share.

Five City Council races are on the ballot, along with the sales-tax referendum.

Early voting runs from Oct. 15-30 at six locations across the city. You can find voting places and times on the website of the Knox County Election Commission.

Here are our election stories:

Sales-Tax Referendum: A guide to the ballot question, the spending plan if the measure passes and the campaigns for and against a city sales-tax increase.

City Council District 1: Becky Jones and Karyn Adams are running to represent South Knoxville and Fort Sanders on Knoxville City Council.

City Council District 2:  The West Knoxville City Council district will see a rematch of the primary, with Nathan Honeycutt running against Melody Watts.

City Council District 3: A pair of business owners — Doug Lloyd and Frank Ramey — emerged from a four-person primary in the race to represent Northwest Knoxville.

City Council District 4: Real-estate broker Matthew DeBardelaben and mortgage banker Jeff Talman square off to represent the eastern portion of North Knoxville.

City Council District 6: Nonprofit leaders Denzel Grant and Stan Johnson are vying for the chance to represent Knoxville’s most diverse Council district.
