City and King Reach Settlement
The agreement ends a months-long dispute over Civil Service rights for the city’s deputy engineering director.

Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero’s administration and Steve King, the city’s deputy engineering director, have reached an agreement in his employment dispute that protects his job at least through the end of Rogero’s term in December.
The Rogero administration seeks clarification of Civil Service rules.
Under the terms of the settlement, signed by Civil Service Hearing Officer William Petty, King is dropping the remainder of his grievance and the city has agreed not to abolish his position. King’s grievance stems from the city’s attempted elimination of the job of deputy engineering director.
