The daytime safe space for Knoxville’s homeless opened Tuesday morning on Broadway underneath the Interstate 40 overpass.
City officials hope the space will keep the unsheltered homeless safe from drug dealers and other predators during daytime hours.
Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero announced the opening at last night’s City Council meeting.
“This is the latest milestone as we keep developing strategies to help get people back on their feet and into housing,” Rogero said.
