A vote to renew a contract for mandatory cultural training for all Knox County Schools employees turned into a bit of a culture clash of its own Wednesday night, between concerned school board members and the University of Tennessee academics who run the program.
A UT training program draws both praise and scrutiny.
“I have heard from more teachers on this subject this school year than any other subject that we’ve had,” said board Vice Chair Susan Horn, who opposed extending the contract.
