The Metropolitan Planning Commission voted unanimously Thursday to approve a development on a peninsula off Tooles Bend Road that promises to add more than 600 housing units over the next decade.
The objections have centered on the lack of infrastructure in the area.
Safe Harbor Development and Goodall Homes want to develop the 260-acre site as a multi-use development that would include single-family homes and condominium units on a nearly 4-mile stretch of Tennessee River waterfront.
