Council Approves Museum Project
Now the Clayton Family Foundation has 180 days to prepare a site planfor the $100 million science center.

The proposed museum could go on the site of the current KPD headquarters, or adjacent to it.
City Council on Tuesday approved moving forward on the Clayton Family Foundation’s proposal to build a science museum next to the Civic Auditorium and Coliseum, but only after hearing objections from citizens citing the property’s urban renewal legacy.

“It’s a long road,” Clayton Homes founder and foundation chief Jim Clayton said after the vote. “There’s a lot more to be done, but this is an important milestone.”
