Tonight’s closure of Physicians Regional Medical Care ends 88 years of care at the former St. Mary’s Hospital in North Knoxville.

At one minute before midnight tonight, Physicians Regional Medical Center will close its doors for good. Healthcare services will not be available at the North Knoxville facility for the first time since the Sisters of Mercy opened St. Mary’s Hospital there in 1930.
Most services offered at Physicians Regional have been moved to Tennova facilities in Turkey Creek and Powell.
