Knox County’s 82nd Precinct straddles a transitional corridor along Rutledge Pike from urban East Knoxville to rural Northeast Knox County.
Area northeast of the city is solidly Republican.
Bounded on the south by the Holston River and the north by Millertown Pike, the precinct consists of modest homes in the John Sevier and Arminda communities. Norfolk Southern’s Sevier Yards lies along the river, and a cluster of heavy equipment providers, truck repair shops and other blue-collar businesses flank Rutledge Pike. As one travels away from the city, commercial businesses give way to farmland.
