Science Museum Moves Forward
City Council considers an agreement with the Clayton Foundation for a $100 million discovery center near the Coliseum.

When Knoxville’s City Council convenes this evening, it will consider formalizing an agreement with Clayton Homes founder Jim Clayton to establish an interactive science museum on city-owned property east of downtown.
The agreement would allow the foundation to move forward with plans for the museum on the site of the city’s Safety Building near the Civic Auditorium and Coliseum, while giving the city time to finalize a deal for a new police, fire and municipal court headquarters.
